Overview

In Sekiro: Shadows Die Twice you are the “one-armed wolf”, a disgraced and disfigured warrior rescued from the brink of death. Bound to protect a young lord who is the descendant of an ancient bloodline, you become the target of many vicious enemies, including the dangerous Ashina clan. When the young lord is captured, nothing will stop you on a perilous quest to regain your honor, not even death itself.

The setting is late 1500s Sengoku Japan, a brutal period of constant life and death conflict, where you’ll come face to face with larger than life foes in a dark and twisted world. Unleash an arsenal of deadly prosthetic tools and powerful ninja abilities while you blend stealth, vertical traversal, and visceral head to head combat in a bloody confrontation.

An unnamed shinobi, tasked with protecting a young lord of mystical lineage, is left for dead when a powerful samurai attacks and chops off his arm.

The Age of Warring States

Across treacherous valleys and mountain ridges thick with snow lay the lands of Ashina. From the northern province came legendary swordsman Isshin Ashina, who wrestled control and restored glory to these lands in the passing of a single generation. However, after a time Ashina was met with a fateful crisis.

A young commander of Ashina's forces. Isshin's own grandson, was distraught at the plight of his grandfather's realm. Gathering his most trusted troops, he devised a covert operation. "No longer can we hope to defend ourselves by conventional means. We must act now. Bring the Divine Heir to me."

Thus the Divine Heir was taken prisoner. Heir by title and nothing more, the young boy had no living relatives; no family, nor dependents to his name.. save for a lone shinobi…

This is the tale of a lord and his retainer, a forlorn pair with nowhere else to turn.
