Way of White Covenant

Lore

The Way of White are the followers of Great Lord Gwyn, and seek to kindle bonfires in order to sustain the power of the gods. The order can be joined by either talking to Petrus at the Firelink Shrine or Rhea after she is rescued from the Tomb of Giants.

There are no ranks or rewards for being in the covenant, but membership grants early access to certain Miracles.

Theories

Church of the Way of White and its Teachings

Founded by Gwyn's uncle, All-Father Lloyd, patron deity of Thorolund, the Way of White has a significant influence in other countries and kingdoms such as Astora and Thorolund.

Thorolund is a hierarchic theocracy, where Lloyd's Apostle is responsible for maintaining order according to the White Seance Ring:
A divine ring entrusted to the head bishop of the Way of White and apostle to Allfather Lloyd, uncle to Lord Gwyn.
The head bishop of the Way of White is the guardian of law and caste, and one of the great royals of Thorolund.

The church teaches that the Dark Sign is a cursed brand and that bonfires must be maintained in order to please the gods. As such, the Northern Asylum is probably the works of the Way of White to get rid of the "accursed".

Members of the church are set on the Undead Mission, should they become undead. The purpose of this pilgrimage to Lordran is to offer humanity to the bonfires to buy time for Gwyn to link the Flame and maintain the Age of Fire and Gods.

Lloyd's Talisman
Talisman utilized by Allfather Lloyd's cleric knights to hunt down the Undead.
Blocks Estus recovery within a limited area.
In the outside world, the Undead are accursed creatures, and Lloyd's cleric knights are widely praised for their Undead hunts.
This blessed talisman blocks Undead recovery, allowing the knights to fight with impunity.

White Seance Ring

Heal
To cast a miracle, the caster learns a tale of the Gods, and says a prayer to be blessed by its revelations.
Heal is the shortest of such miraculous tales.

Seek Guidance
Miracle of Clerics on an Undead mission.
Guidance facilitates communication between Undead, but their value varies greatly.
A balance of faith and wisdom is required.

Homeward
Great miracle cast by advance clerics.
Would normally link to one's homeland, only the curse of the Undead has distorted its power, redirecting casters to a bonfire.
Or perhaps for Undead, this serves as home?

Wrath of the Gods
Primal form of Force. Create powerful shockwave.
Wrath of the Gods was an epic tale that tattered over time and devolved into the modern Force.
