Undead Parish

The Undead Parish might have been once built by the followers of the Way of White. It is found in the religious district of the Undead Burg, and it was probably once an active center of worship for the Undead. This holy ground also houses one of the two Bells of Awakening.

The blacksmith Andre of Astora is close by and Lautrec of Carim is imprisoned inside.
Oswald of Carim awaits the player after the Bell has been rung.

The Bell Gargoyles reside on the roof of the church and pose a threat to those seeking to ring the first Bell of Awakening.

Why the old Undead Parish was abandoned

The largest part of this church is the ruined room in which the Titanite or Prowling Demon resides. Andre of Astora mentions that the old church was abandoned in favor of the church that you passed through. It may be that when this Prowling Demon moved in, the congregation moved elsewhere.

There are paths leading from here to two forbidden planes: Sen's Fortress, and the Darkroot Garden.
They attract all sorts of lunatics, no-one as cultured as yourself.
It's fine to be Undead, but keep a level head, eh?
