Kingseeker Frampt

Kingseeker Frampt is a Primordial Serpent and a friend to the Great Lord Gwyn. Since Gwyn became the fuel for the First Flame, Frampt, as Kingseeker, is looking for a successor to prolong the Age of Fire.

Frampt appears in Firelink Shrine after the chosen Undead rings both Bells of Awakening. Frampt tasks the Chosen Undead to travel to Anor Londo and acquire the Lordvessel, then collect powerful Souls to satiate the Lordvessel so that the Undead can take Lord Gwyn's place.

If the Undead places the Lordvessel on the Firelink Altar with the help of Kaathe instead, Frampt will become irate and leave permanently.

Originally, Frampt and Kaathe had the ability to open Sen's Fortress to the player once both Bells of the Awakening have been rung. Sound files and animations of this exist in the game files.

List of Frampt's known acquaintances

We know that Frampt has spoken to the following:

1. Gwyndolin - because Gwynevere's illusion says that "Kingseeker Frampt, the primordial serpent, shall guideth thee"
2. Gwyn - Frampt himself claims to be a "close friend of the Great Lord Gwyn"
3. Ingward - he mentions that he trusts the player and Frampt
4. Anastacia - Anastacia tells the player that Frampt told her about the Undead's intention to link the Flame

Frampt was jealous of Seath

When Frampt talks about Seath he says that Seath is Gwyn's "former confidante". It is interesting that he bothers to use the word "former", unless it is a claim of superiority over Seath. It is known that Frampt and Gwyn seemed to share a semi-close relationship, it seems only fair that Frampt was jealous of Seath's closeness to Gwyn. This would explain why Frampt seems to have a distaste for anything Seath-related (e.g. Crystal items). So maybe when Seath lost Gwyn's favour, Frampt stepped in to become his next confidante.

There may have also been a rivalry between the Primordial Serpents and the Dragons, as the serpents are seen as an "imperfect dragon".

The Inspiration for the Primordial Serpents

The Mayans believed in a two-headed serpent. The serpent was responsible for transporting the dead from the earth to the underworld. One head would swallow you from the earth and the other would spit you out in the underworld. The art depicting the serpent even has a beard that is reminiscent of the ones that the primordial serpents have in Dark Souls.
The serpents being imperfect dragons also seems to have its roots in western mythology as dragons and serpents were often used interchangeably.

The Mayans beliefs were also centred around the 'World Tree' which is basically a tree that stretches from the underworld and through to the heavens so one could draw similarities there with the arch trees.

Ahh, hello. Was it you who rang the Bell of Awakening?
I am the Primordial Serpent, Kingseeker Frampt, close friend of the Great Lord Gwyn.
Chosen Undead, who has rung the Bell of Awakening. I wish to elucidate your fate.
Do you seek such enlightenment?
[…] Chosen Undead. Your fate is… to succeed the Great Lord Gwyn.
So that you may link the Fire, cast away the Dark, and undo the curse of the Undead.
To this end, you must visit Anor Londo, and acquire the Lordvessel.

Talking:

Those who seek the Realm of the Lords must brave Sen's Fortress, a deadly house of traps.
Many have gone before you, but none have returned. Fate has chosen you, but proceed with caution.

Talking after he transports you to the Firelink Altar:

This is the Firelink Chamber, for the successor of Lord Gwyn.
Now, place the Lordvessel on the altar.

Talking to him after placing the Lordvessel on the altar:

Very well. As Kingseeker, I shall now instruct you, the Lord's successor in your next task.
To achieve your fate, fill the vessel with powerful souls, commensurate to the great soul of Gwyn.
Scarce few possess such brilliant souls.
Gravelord Nito, the Witch of Izalith, the Four Kings of New Londo, who inherited the shards of Gwyn's soul
… and Lord Gwyn's former confidant, Seath the Scaleless. All of their souls are required to satiate the lordvessel.

Talking after filling the Lordvessel:

Ahhh… ohh! The Lordvessel is satiated… Magnificent…
You are the righteous successor to Gwyn, the new Great Lord.
And I am Kingseeker no more… Your acquaintance was an honour.
I must admit, I am fond of you humans. May you enjoy serendipity,
And may the Age of Fire perpetuate.

Before placing the Lordvessel

I am the primordial serpent.
I seek to right the wrongs of the past to discover our true Lord.
But the other serpent, Frampt, lost his sense, and befriended Lord Gwyn.
Undead warrior, we stand at the crossroad.
Only I know the truth about your fate.
You must destroy the fading Lord Gwyn, who has coddled Fire and resisted nature,
and become the Fourth Lord, so that you may usher in the Age of Dark!

When made hostile or siding with Frampt

Fool… You could not be the Dark Lord.

Não é estranho que ao aceitarmos o final Dark Lord um diálogo diz que tanto Frampt e Kaathe vão servir. Mas por qual razão elas lhe abandonam pra no final ambas estarem juntas?
