Lore

The Four Knights of Gwyn were Lord Gwyn's most accomplished warriors. The knights are:

• Dragon Slayer Ornstein, believed to be the captain of the Four Knights
• Artorias the Abysswalker
• Lord's Blade Ciaran
• Hawkeye Gough

Lord Gwyn gifted each of his knights with a ring:

• Leo Ring: given to Ornstein, the Dragonslayer, whose spear could slice a boulder in two
• Wolf Ring: given to Artorias, the Abysswalker, who had an unbendable will of steel and was unmatched with a greatsword
• Hornet Ring: given to Ciaran, the Lord's Blade, whose dagger laid waste to Gwyn's enemies
• Hawk Ring: given to Hawkeye Gough, who led the Greatarchers who hunted high-flying dragons

Executioner Smough aspired to become a Knight, but his delight in killing and eating his own victims likely prevented his promotion.

Hawk Ring
One of the special rings granted to the four knights of Gwyn,
The Hawk Ring belongs to Hawkeye Gough, who led the Greatarchers.
Boosts bow range, so that arrows fly like they were shot by Gough's great bow,
which took down high-flying dragons.

Hornet Ring
One of the special rings granted to the four knights of Gwyn.
The Hornet Ring belonged to the Lord's Blade Ciaran.
By boosting critical attacks, its wearer can annihilate foes,
as Ciaran's dagger laid waste to Lord Gwyn's enemies

Leo Ring
One of the special rings granted to the four knights of Gwyn.
The Leo Ring belonged to Ornstein the Dragonslayer.
This ring strengthens counters with pierce weapons.
His lugged spear is said to have sliced a boulder in two.

Wolf Ring
One of the special rings granted to the four knights of Gwyn.
The wolf ring belongs to Artorias the Abysswalker.
Artorias had an unbendable will of steel, and was unmatched with a greatsword.
