A low ranked knight, armed with a Broad Sword and a Tower Kite Shield who cannot be easily toppled. The low rank stated in the description of the armor and the class itself gives these knights an origin in Astora.

Astora uses ranks for its knights, regarding the evident similarities between Knight's set and the Elite Knight set. The knight also starts being a member of the Way of White covenant, giving another proof of the class origin: Astora and Thorolund are known to be under the influence of the gods and the church.

The weapons that the knight uses can be related to Andre of Astora, who sells them.

Astora Knights' Expedition into Darkroot Basin

The kingdom Astora was attacked by a dark beast (referenced by the Ring of the Evil Eye:
According to legend, this ring contains the spirit of the evil eye, a dark beast which assaulted Astora.

The usage of Divine weapons are common in Astora, perhaps to fend off the beast and to worship the gods.

Andre, blacksmith from Astora who also sells Astoran weapons, states that

I know little of the Darkroot Garden.
Although I've heard rumours of a divine blacksmith who resides there.
Those who get stumped in the Catacombs seek him for divine weapons.
Oh, yes, and one other thing about the Darkroot Garden.
It is said to house the grave of Sir Artorias the Abysswalker.
Only, of those who ventured into the forest, none has returned.

This could mean that a group of Astoran knights arrived at Darkroot Garden, searching for this Divine Blacksmith in order to be able to take on the Catacombs. Perhaps this was related to the undead pilgrimage the members of the Way of White go on.

Sadly, a Knight died to the Hydra, and an Elite Knight was killed by Forest Guardians and Demonic Foliages.
