The Deprived is an unclothed enigma, armed with a club and a plank shield. The deprived class suffers a severe lack of basic material and cultural benefits and lacks any kind of initial specialization.

Member of the Path of Dragon covenant

The most interesting theory about the Deprived point this class to be a member of the Path of Dragon covenant.

This theory is supported by the Plank Shield location. Found in Blighttown, the corpse holding this shield is very, very near to the entrance to The Great Hollow, the path that leads to Ash Lake, where the dragon covenant is located, guarded by the Everlasting Dragon. This proximity hints the origin of the Deprived.

Furthermore, when a member uses the Dragon Head Stone and the Dragon Torso Stone awarded by the Path of the Dragon covenant, their equipment is immediately removed, transforming them into a dragonoid. This effect lasts until the user dies, however the unequipped gear remains unequipped.

Also, "being deprived means to suffer a severe lack of basic material and cultural benefits". may connect the Deprived, and the dragon covenant, since it would mean to be in an isolated place, out of any cultural reach: Ash Lake fits this description perfectly.
